Singing Gospel gave Andre the courage to sing again. Andre's Gospel career lasted for about 2 years and he went right back to what he loved the most, Hip Hop/R&B. Joshua Carter was born November 30th 1990 of Columbus Ohio. In his early youth he was always surrounded by music whether it was gospel, r&b classic soul, or hip-hop. Carter started doing music in his 7th grade middle school year but never really buckled down to attack it at a serious level. His inspirations were artist such as Biggie Smalls, Ice Cube, & Wu-Tang. Born and raised in NYC, Lael Summer experienced the highs and lows of growing up in the heart of “the city
that never sleeps.” It had a profound effect on the young singer who confesses, “there is nothing quite like the feeling of being unbelievably lost and alone while surrounded by millions of people. You grow up fast.”  Lael’s maturity is evident in her debut album, Burden to Bear with a voice that emanates wisdom far beyond her years.

In Fall 2012, while attending the University of Southern California’s elite Popular Music Program, Summer signed to the True Groove Label and released a 4-song EP.  Her full-length debut release, Burden to Bear, was produced by Global Soul pioneer Tomás Doncker who provides a streamlined palette for Lael’s sensual, soul flavored sound.
